Trip Details
Depart at 7am and drive to Paundi close to the start of the famous Annapurna Trekking Circuit. We start our journey with a comprehensive safety demonstration and instruction on different paddling techniques before hitting the exciting grade 4 rapids of the lower Marsyangdi. After lunch beside the river we continue running the rapids and take our adventure downriver to our take out point at Turture.
Lower Marsyangdi River Rafting is a thrilling white-water rafting experience that takes you through one of Nepal's most beautiful and exciting river routes. Situated near Pokhara, the Lower Marsyangdi is renowned for its fast-moving waters, stunning scenery, and challenging rapids. This trip is ideal for adventurers looking for a thrilling yet manageable rafting experience. The river provides a perfect balance of rapids, scenic landscapes, and the opportunity to witness the authentic rural life of Nepal.
The rafting journey typically lasts for two to three days, depending on the chosen itinerary. This duration allows participants to experience a range of rapids, from Class III to Class IV, offering a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. The river passes through stunning gorges, terraced fields, and local villages, ensuring a diverse and unforgettable experience throughout the trip.
Lower Marsyangdi River Rafting is suitable for individuals with moderate fitness levels. While the rapids are not as intense as those on some of Nepal’s other rivers, they are still challenging enough to make the adventure exciting for both beginners and experienced rafters. The minimum age for participation is usually 12 years old, but this may vary depending on the rafting company's guidelines. Those with prior rafting experience will enjoy the more challenging sections, while beginners will have the opportunity to learn from experienced guides.
For your rafting trip on the Lower Marsyangdi, you should bring comfortable clothing that dries quickly, such as a synthetic t-shirt, shorts, and water shoes. A swimsuit is ideal for wearing underneath the clothing. You will also need a lightweight waterproof jacket, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a camera (in a waterproof case). For overnight trips, bring an overnight bag with a change of clothes and necessary toiletries. A pair of trekking shoes or sandals is recommended for walks around the campsite.
Safety is a top priority at Rapid Runner Expeditions, and the company adheres to international safety standards. All participants are provided with top-quality rafting gear, including helmets, life jackets, and paddles. Expert local guides, with years of experience, ensure that the trip runs smoothly, maintaining safety and enjoyment throughout the experience. Before the rafting begins, all participants are given a detailed safety briefing, including paddling instructions, what to do in case of capsizing, and general river safety tips. Emergency evacuation plans are also in place, making this an incredibly safe activity for those looking to enjoy a river adventure.
The best time to experience the Lower Marsyangdi River Rafting is during the pre-monsoon season (from March to May) and post-monsoon season (from September to November). During these months, the weather is generally dry and the river conditions are ideal for rafting. The monsoon season (June to August) may cause high water levels, making the river flow too dangerous for rafting. Winter months (December to February) are also suitable but can be colder, especially for those camping by the river.
Yes, Rapid Runner Expeditions offers flexibility for those who want to tailor their rafting experience.
